ACROBATIC ONLINE WORKSHOPS
Small group classes and private lessons available by request via zoom.
Handstands - Max Students is 10
Be upside down! Learn to do handstands or improve your current handstands. Hold your balances longer by working on exercises and drills to improve and strengthen handstand lines. Work on various shapes, challenges like learning how to balance on one hand and enter and exit handstands in unique ways. Progressions will be provided to accommodate students of all levels. A yoga mat or thin gym mat is recommended. Some open floor space will be needed and access to a blank wall (2 feet of wall space) and/or chair. A warm up and cool down will be included in the class.
Ground Act Creation - Max Students is 10
Learn to put together a ground routine using dance movement and elements of acrobatics. This workshop is great for those looking to create a floor act, learn more ground roaming transitions or compliment an aerial act with floor choreography. Focus will be on routine theme, style and the movement qualities to compliment the act. Progressions will be provided to accommodate students of all levels. A yoga mat or thin gym mat is recommended. A warm up and cool down will be included in the class.
Acrobatic Balance Variations - Max Students is 10
This workshop is designed to work on a variety of different acrobatic balances such as Headstands, Elbow stands, Shoulder stands, Handstands and other creative versions of these balances. Students will work on various ways to play in these shapes, build strength and awareness. Progressions will be provided to help with the development of these skills. A yoga mat or thin gym mat is recommended. A wall you can put your feet on will be required. A warm up and cool down will be included in the class.
Acrobatic Floor Work - Max Students is 10
This workshop is designed to teach creative and interesting ways to move on the floor while incorporating acrobatic elements. Discover new movement pathways while playing with different shapes on the floor. Progressions will be provided to accommodate students of all levels. A yoga mat or thin gym mat is recommended. Some open floor space will be needed. A warm up and cool down will be included in the class.
ACCESS:
This class will be taught in English via zoom and the instructor will demonstrate skills/movements as necessary for additional visual aid. Participants are encouraged to move at their own pace and to take breaks as needed.
COST PER CLASS:
$15 per class with sliding scale pricing available as needed
Sign up for 2 classes for $25 or all four for $50.
Additional financial support is also available to BIPOC artists through our training bursary program.

About the instructor:
Natalie Parkinson Dupley is an artist and instructor. She is a dedicated and certified dance teacher with over 15 years of experience specializing in acrobatics, gymnastics and circus arts. She is certified with The British Association of Teachers of Dancing (BATD), National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) in Artistic and Rhythmic Gymnastics and Acro Dance Adjudicator with Acro Dance Teachers Association (ADA). In 2009, while studying her BFA in Dance and BA in Kinesiology and Health Science at York University, Natalie co-founded Hercinia Arts Collective. Her company focuses on interdisciplinary performance dedicated to the creation of contemporary circus works. Natalie continues to be co-artistic director of her company while continuing to create and produce shows for special events, indoor/outdoor entertainment, festivals and buskerfests. She continues to teach workshops, private lessons, classes and adjudicate dance competitions.
