AKASHA
Akasha is the Sanskrit word for “aether”, said to embody the four elements of earth, air, fire and water. The film uses the expressive movements of aerial and dance to explore one woman’s connection to the elements around her.
This was a collaboration between Hercinia Arts Collective and director/animator Evan DeRushie, using a form of rotoscope animation called “Lunamation” (visit http://www.evanderushie.com/makingofkiddream/ for more information).
Commissioned by The Toronto Animated Images Society for 'DRIFT:The Elements', exhibited at Nuit Blanche Toronto, 2011.
